Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for the Medical Records Manager II which serves as the Director of Broughton Hospital’s Health Information Management (HIM) Department. This role is responsible for the overall supervision and direction of HIM operations, including direct oversight of staff and departmental functions. The HIM Department at Broughton Hospital ensures the accuracy, security, and accessibility of patient health information.

HIM supports high-quality care by maintaining timely, compliant electronic documentation, and providing security of electronic records while continuing to manage and preserve physical records in accordance with state, federal, and regulatory requirements.

Recruitment Range: $47,935.00 - $71.901.00 Salary Range: $47,935.00 - $71,901.00

• Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
  Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medical record science.
• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and the uses and limitations of medical records and reports of medical care, vital statistics, and diseases.
• Ability to analyze and to evaluate medical records, data, and information and to apply established standards, regulations, and laws to specific operating problems.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel, facility personnel, and the public.
• Ability to compile complex medical reports and statistics.
• Ability to plan, assign, instruct, and supervise the activities of subordinate employees.

• Management Preferences: RHIA or RHIT Certification preferred.
• 3-5 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
• 5 years in a HIM department.

Broughton Hospital is one of the three regional psychiatric hospitals with statutory responsibility for operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). With the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, we provide help and support to North Carolinians, and their families, experiencing mental illness. Our hospital serves the western thirty-seven (37) counties of North Carolina, as part of the state's system of care and treatment for persons with mental illness.
