The TOSS Team is seeking a responsible safety-conscious Van Driver and Studio Assistant to join our team! The ideal candidate will be dependable, an excellent communicator, great with children, creative, and committed to ensuring safe and timely transportation throughout the school year and camp season. The Van Driver & Studio Assistant is an FLSA non-exempt, temporary part-time position and generally mirrors the schedule of Burke County Public Schools.

This is an on-site, hourly position responsible for assisting TOSS studio function and executing transportation pick-up and routes for TOSS programming while ensuring participant safety and vehicle upkeep

The Van Driver and Studio Assistant will coordinate and execute transportation for youth to attend programming at the TOSS studio and provide general assistance to the studio to support instruction, material management, and events as needed.

• Coordinate student pick-up and drop-off schedules with the TOSS Director, parents, and schools.
• Safely and reliably operate the organization’s van to transport students to and from designated locations.
• Follow all applicable federal, state, and local laws, organizational policies, and safety procedures.
• Maintain required route, vehicle, and safety documentation in coordination with the TOSS Director.
• Conduct routine vehicle safety checks and report maintenance or safety concerns as needed.
• Assist with transportation of program materials and supply pick-ups.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Support the TOSS Director and instructors with daily studio operations and programming.
• Assist with volunteer coordination, including transportation and task assignments.
• Support students during instruction, including one-on-one assistance and classroom transitions.
• Provide small-group instructional support as needed.
• Assist with preparation of materials, daily clean-up, organization, and documentation.
• Help maintain a welcoming, safe, and creativity-centered environment for students.
• Represent TOSS professionally at public events, funder meetings, and other community activities as needed.

• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License and ability to meet organizational and insurance requirements for operating a passenger van.
• Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Safe driving record.
• Previous experience working with or transporting children or youth preferred.
• Familiarity with local roads and routes preferred.
• Understanding of child safety and emergency procedures; training provided.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
