Role Description

The Family Nurse Practitioner will provide part-time, on-site clinical care at My Next Steps of Morganton in Morganton, NC. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive assessments, developing and managing treatment plans, prescribing and monitoring medications for substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions, and delivering primary care services as appropriate. The role involves collaborating with counselors and other care team members, reviewing lab results, documenting care in the medical record, and participating in case conferences.

The practitioner will provide patient education on treatment options, harm reduction, and wellness practices, while promoting a supportive, nonjudgmental care environment.

Qualifications
  • Clinical practice skills as a Family Nurse Practitioner with experience in Nursing and Primary Care.
  • Ability to manage patient care across Medicine and Urgent Care settings when needed.
  • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in North Carolina and national certification (e.g., AANP or ANCC).
  • Experience or strong interest in substance use treatment, behavioral health, or integrated care.
  • Competence in medication-assisted treatment protocols and safe prescribing practices.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and trauma-informed, person-centered care skills.
  • Comfort working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and with diverse populations.
  • Current DEA registration and CPR/BLS certification; prescriptive authority for controlled substances as required.
