Nurse Extern

Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard, NC is seeking a Nurse Extern to support bedside nursing care under RN supervision. In this learning-focused role, you will assist with vital signs, hygiene, mobility, specimen collection, and documentation while reinforcing classroom knowledge in a real clinical environment. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, participate in patient admissions and discharges, and help maintain a safe, patient-centered environment.

This position offers mentorship, exposure to diverse patient populations, and a pathway toward a future RN role within Mission Health and HCA Healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Assist RNs with direct patient care including vitals, hygiene, and mobility
• Support admissions, transfers, and discharges under supervision
• Collect specimens and perform basic clinical tasks per protocol
• Accurately document care in the medical record as directed
• Maintain a clean, safe, and patient-centered environment
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team
• Follow infection prevention, safety, and hospital policies
• Participate in learning opportunities and skills development
• Support rehabilitation and recovery activities as appropriate
• Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and integrity in all interactions
