Our client is a fast-growing oil and gas exploration and production company with deep roots in the Appalachian Basin. They are seeking an Accountant II to join their Accounting team and play a key role in supporting month-end close, account reconciliations, and special projects across a growing upstream and midstream platform. This position offers hands-on exposure to a dynamic business, including opportunities to support acquisition due diligence, post-close integration, and the continued development of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls as the company scales.

LocationHybrid role based in Morgantown, WV
, with an expectation of working onsite three days per week.
- Prepare and post accurate journal entries in accordance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and investigate variances to ensure data integrity
- Support the month-end close process through the preparation of schedules and financial reports
- Assist with internal and external audit requests, providing timely documentation and analysis
- Maintain and update accounting master data in compliance with established procedures
- Serve as a key point of contact for audit and assurance-related inquiries
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and efficiencies within a growing organization
- Contribute to acquisition-related accounting activities, including due diligence and post-close integration support
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance;
CPA or active pursuit of a CPA strongly preferred - 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience; oil & gas experience and exposure to a SOX-compliant or audited environment are strong pluses
- Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Quorum On Demand (ODA), Enverus, and Black Line is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, and complex account reconciliations
- Self-starter with the ability to manage full-cycle accounting responsibilities in a fast-paced close environment
- Experience helping build or enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in a growing business
- Ability to clearly communicate complex accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and adapt in an evolving organization
