A full-time, nine-month non-tenure track appointment. The WVU School of Music invites candidates who demonstrate success working with multiple styles of voice at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. The primary assignment is teaching applied voice employing both traditional and contemporary techniques that serve the numerous degree tracks and unique goals of our diverse student population. Attracting and maintaining an active studio of voice students is expected.

Active participation in professional organizations in the field is expected, and the successful candidate will participate in and contribute to the School, serve on committees, and engage in the university and professional communities. Additional teaching responsibilities may include voice pedagogy, lyric opera, diction, vocal literature, class voice, or other duties according to the needs of the School of Music and the abilities and interests of the candidate.

DATE OF APPOINTMENT:
August 14, 2026 (Classes begin August 18, 2026)

Outstanding Artist/Teacher who has demonstrated excellence in voice performance and a record of successful teaching in applied voice for a minimum of two years at the college level. Master's degree in voice required, doctorate or equivalent professional experience preferred. The School of Music seeks a candidate who will demonstrate exemplary communication skills, collegiality, and the ability to contribute to the artistic, intellectual, and cultural life of the University.

Preference will be given to Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano or Tenor voice types. A comprehensive understanding of classical and contemporary vocal genres, styles, and performance practices, and pedagogy, a commitment to nurturing today's multifaceted students, and the desire to contribute to a vibrant vocal arts program are essential.
