Position Summary
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine seek a Medical Director, Transplant Nephrology (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor).
Location and WorksiteThe successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV. Depending on operational needs, the candidate may also provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Travel would be anticipated and expected at these additional sites.
Program OverviewWVU Medicine provides comprehensive transplant services to meet the needs of patients in West Virginia and the region. The candidate for this exciting opportunity will provide medical leadership to our renal transplant program.
ResponsibilitiesPractice in Transplant Nephrology and Nephrology. The Medical Director will work with the Surgical Director to ensure the ongoing clinical operations of the kidney transplant program abiding by the UNOS bylaws and CMS regulations. This will include guidance in the evaluation and planning for the kidney and heart/kidney transplant patients through all phases of transplantation. The Director will actively participate in the growth of the program with the leadership team, including the Patient Selection Committee, QAPI, strategic planning, and research initiatives.
Support nephrology clinical practice needs on a regular basis, including inpatient and outpatient nephrology.
Actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and mentors/educating Transplant Staff in the care of kidney patients and providing ongoing support.
Qualifications- MD, DO, or foreign equivalent and eligible for a state medical license.
- Must meet UNOS and OPTN requirements.
- Completed fellowship in nephrology and transplant nephrology.
- Board certified in internal medicine and certified or eligible in nephrology.
- At least one year of experience in transplant nephrology (all qualifications must be met by the time of appointment).
WVU Medicine’s Kidney transplant program was developed in 2019 and is a growing program with a community outreach need.
