Job Overview
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine seek a Medical Director, Transplant Nephrology (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV and may be assigned to additional worksites in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, with anticipated travel.
WVU Medicine provides comprehensive transplant services. The Medical Director will provide medical leadership to the renal transplant program and practice in Transplant Nephrology and Nephrology, including inpatient and outpatient care.
Responsibilities- Work with the Surgical Director to ensure ongoing clinical operations of the kidney transplant program in compliance with UNOS bylaws and CMS regulations.
- Guide evaluation and planning for kidney and heart/kidney transplant patients through all phases of transplantation.
- Participate in growth of the program with leadership team members, including Patient Selection Committee, QAPI, strategic planning, and research initiatives.
- Practice and support the Nephrology section clinical practice needs on a regular basis.
- Instruct medical students, residents, fellows and transplant staff, providing mentorship and ongoing support.
Candidate must have a MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and be eligible for state medical license. Must meet UNOS and OPTN requirements and complete fellowships in nephrology and transplant nephrology. Board certified in internal medicine and certified/eligible in nephrology. Minimum one year of experience in transplant nephrology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
