Job Description

Part‑time Clinical Nursing Faculty for Chamberlain College of Nursing’s BSN Nursing program in the Morgantown, WV area. This role mentors students in an inpatient clinical setting, bridging classroom learning with real‑world patient care. No teaching experience is required; nurses with solid clinical experience and a completed MSN are encouraged to apply.

Scheduling
  • Schedule is determined by course need and clinical specialty for each 8‑week session.
  • Clinical instructors typically work 3‑4 consecutive 12‑hour shifts over a period of 1‑2 weeks each session.
Pediatric Nursing

Students demonstrate nursing skills and procedures in an inpatient healthcare center. The course focuses on family‑centered care for children, from infancy through adolescence.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Implementation
    • Implement the college's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
    • Assume responsibility for autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
    • Plan clinical experiences, provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students.
  • Student Evaluation and Support
    • Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with students' knowledge base, skill competency, and individual learning needs.
    • Evaluate and provide documented feedback on performance based on course objectives.
    • Be available for remediation of students as required.
    • Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.
  • Clinical Coordination
    • Orient and maintain current knowledge related to clinical site policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of site personnel.
    • Ensure visibility while staying available to staff and students at the clinical site.
  • Program and College Development
    • Contribute to ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and the college.
    • Participate in the implementation of the college assessment program, campus retention efforts, and department and campus policies.
    • May teach simulation/skills lab and/or didactic course content under supervision of a course coordinator.
  • Professionalism and Collaboration
    • Serve as a professional role model for others.
    • Utilize relationship skills for group problem solving, consensus building, and win‑win negotiation.
    • Work with college administration, staff, and faculty to improve overall operation and student satisfaction.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
    • Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
    • Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
    • Report to the dean or assistant dean under direct oversight from a course coordinator.
  • Handle related duties and perform other duties as assigned, comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • A master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
  • An unencumbered professional RN nursing license in West Virginia.
  • Illinois RN license required to teach all courses, with assignments prioritized to faculty currently licensed in Illinois.
  • Active BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
  • At least two years professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.
Additional Information

In support of pay transparency laws, the expected compensation rate for this position is between $1,120 per assignment and $7,245 per assignment.
