The CNE adjunct faculty member is responsible for delivering high-quality education to nursing students on a part-time basis. This role involves teaching, mentoring, and supporting students and collaborating with full-time faculty to enhance the nursing program. Adjunct faculty members are expected to bring current clinical expertise into the classroom and clinical settings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) AND enrolled in a graduate degree program with a major in nursing (within 12 months of hire)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and ten (10) years clinical experience
- Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi‑state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in teaching
- BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Master of Science in Nursing
- Previous teaching experience in a nursing program
- Acts as a professional role model to all nursing students by following and reinforcing documented policy and reflecting the mission and vision of the school of nursing.
- Assumes responsibility to stay abreast of current nursing practice to enhance knowledge and clinical expertise in areas/topics of assigned teaching responsibility.
- Presents theory in an organized, understandable manner including application activities and interactive learning strategies using assorted, appropriate teaching modalities.
- Guides students to develop critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills in the clinical/simulation setting.
- Supervise students during clinical practice and provide guidance in clinical settings.
- Promotes and guides students to develop and utilize the nursing process and clinical judgement through clear examples and feedback.
- Provides clinical/simulation learning activities utilizing a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to the environment, the learner, and course outcomes (sim/skills teaching).
- Provide feedback on student performance and support their professional development.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with full-time faculty to ensure course content is up-to-date with current nursing practices and standards, nursing program curriculum, and student level.
- Teaches up to 15 contact hours per semester in the classroom setting (fall, spring, and summer semesters).
- Maintains accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Submits grades and other required documentation in a timely manner.
- Works effectively, respectfully, and appropriately as a member of the team.
- Participates in curriculum planning and development.
- Participates in departmental meetings and training sessions.
- Performs all other duties as assigned, contributing positively and fairly to all processes.
