• Organize and carry out a competitive robotics program that will promote team and school pride
• Accept the responsibility for the welfare of the students under supervision
• Attempt to integrate the robotics program with the total school/county program
• Promote positive public relations concerning the school's robotics program
• Abide by the regional, county, state, and federal rules and regulations for VEX Robotics Competitions (VRC)
• Work in conjunction and coordination with athletic programs
• Make transportation requests for team travel
• Accept responsibility for the retention and care of robotics equipment
• Provide leadership and support in one's area of responsibility
• Maintain professional work habits
• Accept responsibility for the professional behavior of all volunteer coaches
• Maintain and upgrade one's professional skills
• Perform all duties as assigned by principal

• Assist in planning of and participation in the Annual Marshall County Engineering Expo
• Register the school team as a VEX Robotics Competition team
• Learn game rules and participate in multiple competitions
• Plan and communicate a schedule for the school with flexibility to allow the participation of students active in other events and activities
• Create a schedule for the school focused on readiness for competitions primarily scheduled during the spring months
• Plan team meetings and assign team roles
• Develop a team identity
• Build a competitive robot and document the build process

• VEX V-5 Certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Certified as a teacher in the State of West Virginia or completion of any education program as endorsed by Marshall County Schools, the WVSSAC, the State Board of Education, or WVDE
• Completion of approved training and application to the WV Department of Education for an authorization within sixty days of board acceptance (if not previously completed)
• Coaching duties must not interfere with other contracted duties; must be available for practice and competition times as scheduled by the principal in coordination with county office administrators

Employment Term: 2026 – 2027 School year, season varies

Salary: Zero (volunteer position)

Bid Period: June 25 to July 1, 2026 (3:00 PM)
