We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the traditional custodians of this land, and we pay our respects to the elders past, present and future.

Aboriginal Education Services (AES) provide services to schools to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners to reach their learning potential and support all learners to understand and value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.

AES works within the Support and Development Division of the Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) developing inclusive strategies, policies and guidelines. These support:

• Closing the gap in educational outcomes for Aboriginal students.
• The teaching of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.

Guided by Tasmania's Aboriginal Education Framework, our work acknowledges Tasmania's unique socio‑cultural context and responds to the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Strategy.

• These positions are for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified candidates. Confirmation of eligibility must be provided with your application (certified copy of the completed eligibility form available here).
• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration status of Employment.
• A current driver’s licence is desirable.

NOTE:

The cost associated with obtaining an RWVP is the responsibility of the individual.

When a vacancy occurs, the Department’s Fixed‑term and Relief Employment Register will be examined to identify suitable candidates. A merit‑based selection process, which may involve formal interviews, will then be undertaken.
