Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to program needs and directives
- Proven effectiveness in teaching the proper use of special needs transportation equipment and procedures
- Strong organizational skills, including timely completion and submission of all training-related documentation
- Commitment to staying current on best practices and techniques for the use of special equipment utilized by the district
- Prior experience providing training to aides in the use of school bus special needs equipment will be given hiring preference.
- Completion of state and/or national-level training programs related to school bus special needs equipment and procedures
- Ability to effectively schedule, conduct, and evaluate training sessions and administer performance assessments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Job Description: The Special Education Bus Aide Trainer is responsible for providing both classroom instruction and hands‑on training for transportation aides who assist students with special needs. The trainer will ensure that all trainees demonstrate competence in the safe and proper use of specialized equipment and procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering effective, practical instruction aligned with district and state standards.
- Administering evaluations and practical tests to assess trainee proficiency.
- Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date training records and documentation.
- Incorporating best practices and current standards into all training sessions.
- Remaining informed about the latest equipment, safety protocols, and instructional techniques relevant to special needs transportation.
The trainer is expected to uphold high standards of professionalism and ensure that all training contributes to the safe and effective transportation of students with special needs.
Reports To: County Transportation Director; EPIC Administrator
