Must-Have Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable Engineering discipline
- 5+ years of engineering experience in power generation OR 10+ years in a technical role within power generation
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mechanical systems
- Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and performance trends
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team
- Willingness to work extended hours and respond to changing plant conditions when required
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
Project management experience and familiarity with power plant software systems are a plus.
AboutThe Role
The Plant Engineer reports to the Reliability and Performance Manager and plays a critical role in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the power plant. This position blends hands‑on engineering, reliability support, and project execution in a dynamic plant environment.
You will collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability teams to identify equipment issues, improve performance, and support outages, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Complete rotational assignments with Operations, Maintenance, and Material Handling to gain full plant familiarity
- Identify and resolve abnormal equipment conditions in collaboration with plant personnel
- Provide technical guidance on processes, procedures, repairs, and improvement projects
- Assist with project development, proposal evaluation, and contractor coordination
- Support and lead project execution while maintaining budget and schedule compliance
- Participate in and lead Root Cause Analysis investigations and implement corrective actions
- Monitor unit and equipment reliability issues and drive resolution efforts
- Support outage planning and execution to ensure scope, schedule, and budget alignment
- Implement and support Predictive Maintenance (PdM) technologies
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulatory permits
- Maintain assigned work order backlog and create work orders and purchase requisitions as needed
- Drive process and procedure improvements across plant departments
- Participate in Management of Change initiatives
- Ensure all work activities comply with OSHA safety regulations and plant policies
- Research and evaluate new technologies and monitoring methods to improve equipment reliability
- Share technical knowledge, adopt new technologies cost‑effectively, and support professional development
- Power generation experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with tools such as OSIsoft PI, AutoCAD, Intertek AWARE, Maximo, Emerson Ovation, and Tap Root
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
