Controls Engineer or Senior Controls Engineer (we are hiring for all levels of experience)
Morgantown, West Virginia Role Impact
The Controls Engineer will support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting, optimizing, and improving automated production systems. This role will focus on increasing equipment reliability, production efficiency, safety, and quality.
Responsibilities- Design, program, test, troubleshoot, and upgrade industrial control systems.
- Support PLCs, HMIs, motion controls, instrumentation, safety systems, industrial networks, and data collection systems.
- Develop and maintain electrical/control system standards and documentation.
- Troubleshoot electrical, controls, software, and hardware issues to minimize production downtime.
- Partner with operations and maintenance teams to identify root causes and implement process improvements.
- Manage controls and electrical upgrades, coordinating with electricians, contractors, and equipment vendors.
- Develop functional and design specifications for new and upgraded equipment.
- Support the full lifecycle of controls hardware and software.
- Lead or support controls projects from design through implementation and commissioning.
- Assist with equipment training, testing, and vendor/OEM activities.
- Provide knowledge transfer and training to team members.
- Ensure all work meets applicable safety, quality, and food manufacturing standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Automation, Electrical, Process Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of controls/electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or B&R controls, VFDs, and servo drives.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical, process, and automation systems.
- Aseptic manufacturing and packaging experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
