Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, computer science, business, informatics or related field AND Three (3) years’ experience performing similar duties required by the information technology department.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND Seven (7) years’ experience performing similar duties required by the information technology department.
Certification Requirements
  • This position may require additional certification in support of the responsibilities of the position, which will be provided by WVUHS Information Technology. Certification completion may be required within a defined period of time with formal certification of training completion.
  • Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in current position in order to qualify for promotion within IT.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting day-to-day activities in the information technology department is required to lead a team to success in operations, projects and customer success.
  • Technical experience varies depending on departmental needs with software development, application support, HL7 interfaces, etc.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leadership:
    Demonstrates curiosity and answers questions about process improvement. Assists the Manager in hiring new team members, professional development, and aligning team effort with organizational goals. Implements process improvement for team turnaround times. Self-educates on national healthcare and IT trends. Provides insight and guidance to internal teams and customers. Coordinates customer rounding meetings for potential enhancements. Completes employee evaluations and approves timecards, vacation, on-call schedules.
  • Problem Identification and Resolution:
    Oversees daily production problems/issues and escalates follow-up. Prepares complex test scripts, oversees script writing and testing, and participates in testing as needed. Ensures proper documentation of issues/requests. Diagnoses issues and intervenes to resolve unplanned system outages and restore availability/performance in crisis situations.
  • System Management:
    Evaluates and documents operational performance. Completes service requests and resolves highly complex systems or processes. Uses specialized analysis and reporting tools including reporting workbench, report writers, query tools such as Chronicle, SQL, and advanced Excel macros. Participates in vendor demonstrations, reference calls, site visits, RFP/RFI activities. Assists manager in reviewing department budget accuracy.
  • Project Coordination:
    Assists Manager with assignment of team members to projects and reviews resource allocation. Determines work effort estimates and milestones. Assigns IT Service Management Vendor tickets to team members. Develops remedies to eliminate project roadblocks. Coordinates vendor calls, including EHR TS calls or Microsoft calls. Coordinates major upgrades to applications or systems. Creates test plans using workflow knowledge.
  • Team Building:
    Provides onboarding and training for new hires. Implements process improvement for turnaround times. Encourages team collaboration. Develops and enforces new processes and procedures. Coordinates and leads team meetings, prepares agenda and minutes.
  • Training &

    Education:

    Facilitates training sessions. Mentors team members on technical and customer service skills, supports open tickets and on-call issues. Develops training curriculum and programs. Provides leadership in planning and developing system training environments.
  • Advanced System Analysis:
    Performs complex system analyses, design, and simulation across multiple platforms and cross-functions. Develops procedures to solve complex problems. Applies strategic system development experience to prepare specifications and modify system processes.
  • Compliance:
    Adheres to established WVUHS policies and policies of any entities where the IT team member is assigned.
