IT Project Manager, Systems Analyst
Job Summary
Lead a project team on organizational-wide mid-to-low risk IT projects that involve limited departments and affect multiple people. Manage smaller scale projects, including planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of IT projects—project work plans, reporting, issue tracking, scope and risk management, cost, resource and time management, communications, and vendor collaboration. Serve as liaison between Information Technology and other health system practices, facilitating communication and resolving client requests to meet service expectations outside of defined projects.
CoreDuties and Responsibilities
- Project Management: Effectively plan, execute, and close projects; review proposals, set goals, timelines, budgets, staffing, deliverables, and resources; create and maintain project work plans; track progress; manage scope/charter; handle change controls; engage stakeholders; drive project team performance; manage risks and issues, escalating as needed; provide realistic expectations and monitor customer satisfaction.
- Communication Effectiveness: Clearly communicate project status, issues, and successes to all levels; maintain objectivity using fact-based information; conduct routine meetings; motivate the team; identify themes and provide direction.
- Resource and Fiscal Accountability: Oversee staffing of consultants, contractors, and vendors; manage internal resources and vendor project managers; schedule activities; maintain positive relationships; manage invoicing; typical project budgets under $500,000.
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Identify and manage low-risk projects; engage proper resources; resolve problems, track risk logs; evaluate alternatives and find systematic solutions.
- Collaboration: Resolve conflicts and build relationships; establish ground rules; maintain calm demeanor; document issues accurately; promote positive working relationships.
- Accountability and Decision Making: Prioritize workload, anticipate consequences, meet deadlines, forecast changes, analyze risks, and make timely decisions.
- Influencing and Leading: Use persuasive and positive negotiation techniques to keep projects on course.
- Project Management Tools: Proficient with MS Project, MS Office, MS SharePoint, Windows, and internal software.
- Administrative Responsibilities: Participate in change planning, departmental functions, and staff meetings; promote teamwork and volunteer support.
- Team Building: Mentor, train, and develop staff; provide support; create internal documentation.
- Travel may be required to other facilities or affiliated sites.
- Adhere to WVUHS policies and entity-specific policies.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, MIS, or related field; or four (4) years of relevant experience (project management, project coordination, project lead, systems analysis).
- Internal employees must possess all mandatory competencies for promotion eligibility.
- Certified Associate in Project Management certification.
- One year hospital or hospital IT experience.
Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping are necessary throughout the shift.
