Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Information Technology staff, professional development of the team along with HR duties (Performance reviews, Timecards and such). This position is responsible for coordination of the team with design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of new and legacy systems. This position will lead the staff in assisting customers in identifying systems solutions to meet functional needs, streamline and ensure patient safety and confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, computer science, business, informatics or related field AND Three (3) years’ experience performing similar duties required by the information technology department.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND Seven (7) years’ experience performing similar duties required by the information technology department.
  • Certification may be required in support of the responsibilities of the position. Certification completion may be required within a defined period of time with formal certification of training completion.
  • Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in current position in order to qualify for promotion within IT.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in supporting day-to-day activities in the area of Information Technology department is required to lead a team to success in operations, projects and customer success.
  • Technical experience could vary depending on department’s required needs with software development, application support, HL7 Interfaces and so on.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leadership:
    Demonstrates curiosity and answers questions how processes, applications, customer requests, system upgrades can be improved, leading to added value for the health system. Assists Manager in hiring new team members and their professional development. Ensures team focus on organizational goals and implements process improvement for team turnaround times. Continues self-education on national healthcare and IT trends to provide insight and guidance.

    Coordinates customer rounding meetings, completes employee evaluations, approves timecards, vacation, on-call schedules, and more in a timely manner.
  • Problem Identification and Resolution:
    Oversees daily production problems and issues, escalates follow-up, prepares complex test scripts, oversees script writing and testing, and participates in testing. Ensures proper documentation of issues. Diagnoses issues and identifies interventions to resolve outages and restore system availability/performance.
  • System Management:
    Evaluates and documents operational performance, diagnoses incidents, completes service requests, and resolves highly complex systems or processes. Uses specialized analysis and reporting tools such as reporting workbench, report writers, query tools, Chronicle, SQL, and advanced Excel macros. Plans, attends, and evaluates vendor demos, reference calls, site visits, and participates in RFP/RFI activities. Assists manager in reviewing department budget accuracy.
  • Project Coordination:
    Assists Manager with assigning team members to projects, reviewing resource allocation, determining effort estimates, and milestones. Assigns IT Service Management Vendor tickets to team members. Develops remediation plans to remove project roadblocks. Completes team status reports. Coordinates vendor calls (EHR TS, Microsoft, etc.) and major system or application upgrades. Creates test plans based on workflow and system knowledge.
  • Team Building:
    Provides onboarding and training for new hires, improves team turnaround times, encourages collaboration, develops new processes and procedures, and ensures consistency. Coordinates and leads team meetings, prepares agenda, records minutes, and escalates as needed.
