Responsibilities

  • Lead project team(s) on organizational‑wide mid‑to‑low risk projects affecting multiple people within limited departments; oversee overall project management of smaller‑scale initiatives.
  • Develop and manage project work plans, reporting, issue tracking, scope, cost, resources, time, communications, and risk.
  • Coordinate with IT, vendors, and customers to ensure successful project completion.
  • Serve as liaison between Information Technology and other practices within the health system, providing on‑site visits, regular communication, resolving client requests, and ensuring delivered services meet client needs.
  • Facilitate transition of project support to Customer Service at completion.
  • Manage project risks and issues, escalating appropriately and implementing change control processes.
  • Ensure project status, issues, and successes are communicated clearly to all levels, maintaining objectivity and factual accuracy.
  • Oversee project staffing, including consultants, contractors, and vendors, managing external resources when necessary.
  • Track project budgets typically under $500,000 and provide invoicing oversight.
  • Apply critical thinking to identify and resolve project problems using systematic approaches.
  • Promote collaboration, establish ground rules, and maintain positive relationships with customers, staff, and sponsors.
  • Make informed decisions, prioritize work, forecast changes, and communicate risks and issues proactively.
  • Utilize project management tools such as Windows, MS Project, MS Office, and MS SharePoint.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities, including planning, change implementation, and departmental participation.
  • Mentor, train, and develop colleagues, coaching them to exceed expectations.
  • Travel to other facilities or affiliated sites as needed for implementation, training, and support.
  • Adhere to WVUHS policies and any additional policies of the entity or entities to which the IT team member is assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or MIS, or related field required, or four (4) years of relevant experience such as project management, project coordination, project lead, or systems analysis.
  • Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in the current position to qualify for promotion within IT.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Associate in Project Management Certification preferred.
  • One year hospital or hospital Information Technology experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping necessary body movements utilized during the work shift.

  • The work environment is a standard office environment.
