This Home Health Registered Nurse position is based in Morgantown, West Virginia, a dynamic and welcoming community known for its blend of small-city comfort and big-university energy. With the presence of West Virginia University, Morgantown offers a robust academic and medical environment, diverse dining options, collegiate sports, arts and cultural events, and a steady calendar of local festivals and community activities.

The city is nestled along the Monongahela River and surrounded by rolling hills and mountains, providing easy access to hiking and biking trails, water recreation, and nearby state parks. Residents enjoy a lower cost of living than many larger metropolitan areas, while still benefiting from convenient access to Pittsburgh and other regional destinations. In this role, you will provide skilled nursing care to patients in their homes throughout Morgantown and the surrounding region.

You will be part of a collaborative, mission-driven home health team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care that allows individuals to recover, rehabilitate, and manage chronic conditions in the comfort of their own homes. The setting offers the unique opportunity to build meaningful one-on-one relationships with patients and families, while practicing with a high degree of independence and professional judgment.

Typical responsibilities include conducting comprehensive admission and follow-up assessments, developing and updating individualized plans of care, administering medications and treatments, managing wounds and post-operative care, and providing education to patients and caregivers on disease management and safety in the home. You will coordinate services with therapists, social workers, and home health aides to ensure holistic, coordinated care. You will also monitor patient progress, respond to changes in condition, and communicate regularly with physicians and the broader care team.

A typical day involves traveling to multiple patient homes within an assigned territory in and around Morgantown, completing skilled nursing visits, documenting in the electronic medical record, and collaborating with team members via phone or secure messaging. The caseload is designed to support thorough, unhurried visits where you can focus on assessment, teaching, and individualized patient needs. This position is ideal for an RN who values autonomy, flexibility, and the ability to see the direct impact of their care on patient independence and quality of life.

Shifts generally follow a daytime schedule with some flexibility depending on patient needs, visit volumes, and agency structure. Rotations for evenings, weekends, or on-call coverage may be required to support continuity of care and timely response to patient concerns in the home. The home health environment emphasizes safety, evidence-based practice, and ongoing professional development, with opportunities to expand your skills in areas such as complex wound care, chronic disease management, and advanced patient education.

Morgantown’s strong healthcare and university presence, combined with its outdoor amenities and community-oriented lifestyle, make this home health role a compelling choice for nurses seeking a rewarding, community-based practice. If you prefer meaningful, relationship-focused nursing in a setting where you can truly see your patients’ progress over time, this position offers an engaging and professionally fulfilling opportunity.
