Travel Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking an experienced Travel Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) for an exciting night shift travel assignment. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, specialized care to intermediate and medical-surg patients with a focus on cardiology, heart failure, cardiac surgery, and complex medical conditions. Working on a 32-bed mixed unit, you will collaborate with a dedicated team, utilize advanced monitoring systems, and safely titrate cardiac medications in a flexible, self-scheduled environment.
Requirements- Must possess an active Registered Nurse license with strong clinical skills and intermediate care experience.
- Must hold active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Prior cardiac and post-cardiac surgery experience is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in titrating or managing specialized drips (including Heparin, Insulin, Nitro, Cardizem, Nicardipine, Lasix, Amiodarone, and Dobutamine) is required.
- Must be comfortable reading telemetry strips utilizing the facility's Philips monitoring system.
- Night shift assignment totaling 36 scheduled hours per week.
- Offers flexible self-scheduling in Kronos with block scheduling generally accommodated and allowed.
- Requires 3 to 4 weekend days (Saturdays/Sundays), 2 Fridays, and 2 Mondays per 4-week schedule block.
- Requires a holiday rotation working one eve and one day per holiday pair (e.g., Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day).
- There is no on-call or standby requirement for this travel assignment.
- Required to float to floor assignments as the first to be pulled, typically averaging 1 out of every 3 shifts on a rotational basis.
- Assess and manage intermediate stepdown and medical-surg patients with diagnoses including heart failure, cardiac surgery, and general medicine.
- Safely titrate and monitor critical set-rate and titratable drips including vasoactive, antiarrhythmic, and insulin infusions.
- Manage respiratory support therapies including high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), CPAP, BiPAP, and tracheostomy-to-ventilator setups in coordination with a dedicated floor Respiratory Therapist.
- Maintain high standards of care while managing patient ratios of 1:3 for Stepdown beds and 1:5 or 1:6 for floor beds.
- Collaborate with a dedicated unit Charge Nurse, 24/7 House Supervisors, and overnight Clinical Associates to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
