Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Weekend Days, 6W Neuro

Registered Nurse – Inpatient Hospital Setting. Responsibilities include patient assessment, development and implementation of care plans, documentation of patient outcomes, and application of evidence‑based practice to ensure quality patient care.

Shift: Weekend.

Work hours:

36 hours per week. Non‑exempt.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or a multi‑state RN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
Experience
  • Less than 12 months of experience as a registered nurse.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates safety and continuity of care using documentation and handoff tools/processes.
  • Creates a plan of care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Recognizes patient safety concerns through appropriate resources.
  • Provides education tailored to the unique learning needs of patients.
  • Incorporates patient individuality and mutuality data into care delivery.
  • Performs adequate patient assessment and documentation.
  • Utilizes the teach‑back method to evaluate effectiveness of education.
  • Applies evidence‑based practice (EBP) in nursing care.
  • Participates in organizational patient‑centered care model.
  • Documents problems and issues in the plan of care.
  • Demonstrates growth in caring for more complex patients through consultation with experienced colleagues.
  • Shows commitment to lifelong learning through self‑reflection and inquiry.
  • Retains accountability for delegated nursing care.
  • Recognizes scope of practice for all interprofessional team members.
  • Participates in holistic, culturally sensitive data collection.
  • Assesses the impact of family dynamics on healthcare consumer health and wellness.
  • Integrates the American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics to guide practice.
  • Identifies discriminatory health care practices in culturally diverse populations.
  • Individualizes care based on patients’ beliefs, barriers, and readiness to learn.
Physical Requirements
  • Minimize manual patient lift to 35 pounds; use lift equipment or other aids as indicated.
  • Require strength and stamina for lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials weighing 40+ lbs.
  • Visual acuity must be within normal range.
  • Hearing within normal range is required for assessment tasks such as listening to breath and bowel sounds, monitoring, and other clinical duties.
Working Environment

  • Work with or near the deceased.
  • Work with hands in water.
  • Work with electrical hazards associated with patient‑care equipment.

CAPE Level Requirements Level 1
  • No experience required.
  • All graduate nurses with less than 12 months of experience enter at Level 1 with a diploma, ADN, BSN, or higher.
Level 2
  • Meets requirements for the previous level.
  • One year of experience.
Level 3
  • Meets requirements for the previous level.
  • Two years of experience, plus one specialty certification.
  • Certification is preferred but not required.
  • Required competencies include regular charge nurse or precepting new staff or nursing students.
Level 4
  • Available to those with a BSN or higher, or nurses with an ADN/diploma and 5 years of experience.
  • One specialty certification is required.
  • Required competencies include regular charge nurse or precepting new staff or nursing students.
  • Required competencies include participation in QI and/shared governance at the unit level.
Level 5
  • Available to those with an MSN or higher with 4 years of experience, or BSN with 4 years of experience and a health‑related master’s degree, or BSN with 5 years of experience.
