Registered Nurse (RN) Multicampus Float - Emergency Services -- Multicampus Float Pool - ED -- Mon M (Job )

As an RN at Mon Health you will coordinate total patient‑centered care ensuring optimal service to the communities we serve. RN will float throughout the Vandalia North Health System facilities providing care to patients in the Emergency Department. All RNs will have a brief orientation to each facility to which they will be assigned to acclimate to the various EMRs utilized throughout our system and orientation to Emergency Department.

Staffing needs will be assessed by the centralized staffing office and RN will be assigned to the facility based on the needs of that facility. RN will be scheduled on the home facility’s ED Multi-Campus Float Pool schedule as well as the schedule of the facility to which they are traveling. Any changes made to the schedule will come from the home facility after communication with the Emergency Department Leader.

The RN will be made aware of changes by the home facility.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment:
    The registered nurse collects comprehensive data pertinent to the healthcare consumer’s health and/or situation to provide an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.
  • Diagnosis:
    The registered nurse analyzes the assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues to provide an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.
  • Outcomes Identification:
    The registered nurse identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation to provide an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.
  • Planning:
    The registered nurse develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes to provide an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.
  • Implementation:
    The registered nurse implements the identified plan to provide an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.
  • Evaluation:
    The registered nurse evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes to provide an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Work assignments include the care of patients in both the Emergency Department (ED) and the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU). The CDU is located within the ED and primarily serves patients requiring cardiac observation and monitoring.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Heavy work:
    Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills to collaborate with physicians and instruct patients and their families.

  • Maintains current knowledge related to unit‑specific nursing.

  • Accurate and timely medication administration utilizing barcode medication administration scanning and reassessment.
  • Accurate and timely documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
  • Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Incorporates and adheres to national patient safety standards and appropriate utilization of safety practices within each facility.
  • Recognizes and responds to changes in patients’ condition and reports as appropriate.
  • Effectively communicates with patients, family members, providers, and co‑workers.
  • Demonstrates effective use of facility EMRs.
  • Provides patient and family education.
