Velocity Care is a dynamic, fast‑paced urgent care system with seven regional sites located in Southwest Virginia, delivering high‑quality, acute care for patients of all ages. Our providers manage a broad range of conditions, from upper respiratory infections to minor fractures and lacerations. Clinics operate from 8AM to 8PM, seven days a week, with flexible scheduling options, including 12‑, 10‑, and 8‑hour shifts.
Providers work primarily at two to three local sites and are credentialed across the system for maximum convenience and staffing flexibility.

Applicants must have graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program. Prior emergency medicine or urgent care experience is preferred but not required; a thorough orientation/training process is provided.
What We Require Education- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program or Accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience preferred; additional experience may be required for some specialties
- License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- For Nurse Practitioners, license to practice as a registered nurse is required
- Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with state regulations
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Current PALS/NPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required for specific positions
Minimum Qualifications
- Maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of Carilion Clinic and state Boards
- Qualify for malpractice insurance and be accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier
- Work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers
- Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills
- Computer literacy required for electronic medical record systems
