Overview
Provide specialized care to specific patient populations to optimize care and experience.
Responsibilities- Provide hands‑on assistance according to department, patient and provider needs, including but not limited to assisting with procedures, performing tests, preparing or administering patient medications, and obtaining specimens.
- Act as first contact for patients, providing triaging and medical advice where applicable.
- Coordinate the plan of care and act as a liaison between providers, departments, other healthcare professionals, and schedulers to coordinate testing, scheduling, referrals, etc.
- Monitor and manage patient appointments, testing and labs necessary for the patient population.
- Assist with obtaining prior authorizations for the patient population.
- Prepare educational material for patient use and educate and counsel patients concerning medical condition, medication or treatment.
- Provide specialized nursing assistance in research efforts when applicable.
- Provide advice, education and consultation services to nursing staff of any unit that cares for the same patient population.
- Attend conferences or educational opportunities to ensure up‑to‑date knowledge.
- Minimum qualification
:
Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided, or current multi‑state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). - State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- Two years’ experience as an RN or five years’ experience as an LPN.
- Preferred qualification
:- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (BSN).
- Certification relevant to the specialized care they will be providing.
- Heavy or hard work: lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, positioning patients, standing, walking, carrying patients, materials and equipment weighing 35+ lbs.
- Frequently exposed to blood and bodily fluids; possible exposure to harmful toxins.
- Regular exposure to communicable disease.
- Travel may be necessary in departments with multiple locations.
