Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU travel position requiring 2+ years of experience, including direct fresh open-heart admissions from the OR, with a WV or compact RN license.

Details
  • 13-week travel contract with possibility of extension
  • CVICU setting within a hospital environment
  • Patient population includes post-cardiac surgery, open-heart admissions directly from the OR, and overflow step-down level of care patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:2, based on acuity
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00), including weekdays and weekends
  • Charting via Cerner EMR
  • Blocked schedules are an option
  • Scrubs are not provided by the facility
Requirements
  • Active WV or compact RN license required; pending license accepted
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — all must be through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • ACT (Activated Clotting Time) experience required
  • Experience with direct fresh open-heart admissions from the OR required
  • Proficiency in Swan-Ganz catheter management, Impella monitoring, and CRRT/CVVHD required
  • Experience with pressure monitoring, arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management required
  • Cardiac surgery skills including CABG, IABP, LVAD/RVAD, valve repair/replacement, and TAVR experience
  • Skills in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and care of ventilated patients required
  • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases (ABGs)
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 2 manager and/or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required
  • Driver's license and Social Security card copy required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Orientation is held every other Monday
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former permanent employees of the health system must wait 2 years from their last permanent employment date before being eligible for a travel contract
  • Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including associated facilities) are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
  • Candidates with a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility meet the standard radius requirement; candidates residing 75–100 miles away may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Previous probationary actions on a license will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
  • RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration
  • Non-billable Cerner module training required prior to start date, with an average completion time of 8 hours
