Step Down Unit Nurse - Morgantown, West Virginia. This specialized nursing role involves providing compassionate care to cardiac, vascular, and cardiology postoperative patients in a busy, high-quality team environment. The position offers an opportunity to focus on complex patient cases within a dedicated step-down setting, utilizing advanced clinical skills and certifications.

• Shift: Nights, three 12-hour shifts

  Nights, three 12-hour shifts;
  Minimum of 48 hours per week
• Required Qualifications:
  
  BLS and ACLS certifications; a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse; current license to practice; experienced in cardiac or vascular nursing; willing to wait for license submission
• Unit Type:
  Step down unit with 32 beds (all private), including cardiac and vascular post-op patients
• Patient Types and Diagnoses:
  Cardiac surgery post-op patients such as CABG, valve replacements, LVAD, transplant, TAVRs;
  Vascular surgery post-op such as AAA repair, femoral bypass, angiograms;
  Cardiology patients including STEMI, NSTEMI, heart failure, and procedures like cardiac caths, stents, pacemakers, ICDs
• Nursing
  
  Skills:
  
  Titration of drips including Heparin, amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, dobutamine; managing complex cardiac cases
• Staffing and Ratios: 1 RN to 3 patients on step-down; 1 Clinical Associate to 8-10 patients;
  Charge Nurse and House Supervisors available 24/7
• Equipment and Technologies:
  Cpap, Bipap, Hi-flow; RNs interpret all strips with the support of Cardiac Monitoring Technicians housed on the unit
• Additional Requirements:
  
  Solid royal blue and white dress code; unit-specific orientation of 2-3 shifts; exception-based floating to sister units within the Heart and Vascular Institute; no standby or call required; optional overtime available
