Job Summary

As a RN you will coordinate total patient centered care ensuring optimal service to the communities we serve.

Within a patient centered culture, promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process and collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members. The RN shall accept accountability, use independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel to whom care is delegated to achieve quality patient care outcomes. Provides physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.

Follows standards of care set by the WV State Board of Nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment:
    The registered nurse collects comprehensive data pertinent to the healthcare consumer's health and/or situation by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.
  • Diagnosis:
    The registered nurse analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or the issues by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.
  • Outcomes Identification:
    The registered nurse identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.
  • Planning:
    The registered nurse develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternative to attain expected outcomes by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.
  • Implementation:
    The registered nurse implements the identified plan by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.
  • Evaluation:
    The registered nurse evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Understanding

Roles and Responsibilities:

Interacts with various members of the health care team to meet patient care needs and identify teaching/learning needs of patients. Takes responsibility for clarifying job responsibilities, including the need to understand performance standards and other expectations.

Communicates with supervisor regularly to ensure that there is no misunderstanding about how performance will be measured and how expectations relate to the job. Seeks clarification as needed or when responsibilities are not understood. Willingly accepts change.

Possesses sufficient skills to perform the job in an efficient and effective manner. Can demonstrate skills and knowledge in day-to-day situations, including the use of equipment associated with job responsibilities. Performs patient care as well as administrative tasks. Documents patient care services in the health record, administers medication and assists with procedures. Protects patients, visitors and employees by adhering to infection prevention policies and protocols.

Participates in performance improvement activities as appropriate and assists with new employee orientation according to clinic plan.

Productivity:
Meets productivity standards that have been established for the position and/or department. Prioritizes multiple tasks. Completes assignments per protocol or as directed. Embraces new and innovative approaches that will improve efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively collaborate with physicians, and instruct patients and their families.
  • Heavy Work:
    Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly.

Education

  • Associate's Degree (Required) Substitution:
    May substitute completion of a formal nursing program in lieu of an Associate's Degree.
