Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract assignment in the Medical-Surgical/Orthopedic Unit at a Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital in Morgantown, WV. This position offers the opportunity to care for patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, traumatic injuries, and a variety of medical conditions in a nationally recognized academic medical center.

ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive nursing care to adult orthopedic and medical-surgical patients.
Perform patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
Monitor patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, fractures, joint replacements, and traumatic injuries.
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments safely and accurately.
Assist with pain management, mobility progression, wound care, splint and cast assessments, and post-operative recovery.
Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, physicians, therapists, case managers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, mobility precautions, rehabilitation, and discharge instructions.
Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and patient safety protocols.
QualificationsActive Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state.
Candidates do not need a West Virginia RN license in hand at the time of application. Licensure may be obtained prior to the start of the assignment, if required by the facility.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Current BLS Certification required.
Current ACLS Certification required.
Minimum of 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma, or Acute Care nursing experience preferred.
Previous experience in a Level I Trauma Center or Teaching Hospital is highly preferred.
Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to manage multiple patients while delivering safe, high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
This is a contract position at a Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital.
Local candidates will not be considered.
Applicants must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this assignment.
Must meet all facility credentialing and onboarding requirements prior to the start of the assignment.
