Job Summary:
Provide specialized critical care nursing to pediatric patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert clinical skills and compassionate care.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor critically ill pediatric patients, including those requiring ventilator support, vasoactive drugs, and titrated drips.
- Administer medications, including sedation and vasoactive agents, following protocols and physician orders.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams such as pediatricians, RTs, and support staff to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Document patient status, interventions, and responses accurately in the electronic medical record system.
- Respond to emergency situations promptly, providing life-saving interventions as needed.
- Assist with unit flows, including admissions, discharges, and equipment setup, ensuring smooth operations.
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license in the state of practice.
- A minimum of 2 years of PICU experience, with pediatric critical care expertise.
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required.
- Ability to titrate drips such as sedation, fentanyl, Versed, or Precedex, with physician oversight.
- Comfortable managing ventilators, Cpap, BiPAP, and Tracheostomy patients.
- Willingness to float across pediatric units including L&D, NICU, and Acute Peds as needed.
