American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown/Med-Surg RN for weekend night shifts requiring EPIC experience and at least one year of nursing experience.
Details- Work on a 29-bed flex unit serving both stepdown and med-surg patients
- Diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses
- Patient ratios of 3:1 for stepdown and 6:1 for floor assignments
- Supported by Clinical Associates at a target ratio of 1:10
- RNs titrate drips per orders including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, and opioid PCAs
- Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, HiFlow, and vents (vent settings adjusted by ICU)
- Remote telemetry surveillance center with central monitoring on the unit using Philips equipment; RNs not required to read their own strips
- Charge RNs and House Supervisors available 24/7
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7:30a, working Friday-Saturday-Sunday or Saturday-Sunday-Monday
- No call or standby requirements
- First to float or be pulled to other floor/stepdown units
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Active WV or compact RN license
- BLS certification (AHA)
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- BSN not required
- Must be able to manage a 6-patient med-surg or 3-patient stepdown assignment
- Provide direct patient care on a unit currently under construction, with stepdown beds opening in Q1 2026
- Expect to work approximately half of all facility-recognized holidays
- Scrub dress code is any combination of royal blue and white
- Weekend positions are standard for this role
- Floating to other floor/stepdown units is required with priority given to travelers
- New and experienced nurses will be considered
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
- Previous WVU Medicine travelers must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one year before a required 2-year break
- All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
