Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Stepdown & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)

Morgantown, WV | Inpatient

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

• Provide direct patient care on a 31-bed Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), maintaining a 1:3 ratio for Stepdown patients and 1:5–6 for EMU floor patients
• Care for higher-acuity neuroscience patients including those with strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and EVDs
• Implement and document NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments as part of ongoing neurological monitoring
• Administer and manage set-rate and protocol-driven drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin per physician orders
• Collaborate with Respiratory Therapy (available 24/7) for patients on floor ventilators; RNs are not required to independently manage ventilators
• Participate in weekend rotation (every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule) and holiday rotation as expected

• Active RN license in good standing
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required and must be in hand at time of submission
• Strong neuro experience with a demonstrated history of caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH Stroke Scale
• Stepdown-qualified RN experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• COVID-19 vaccination required (fully vaccinated); medical or religious exemption requests must be submitted promptly for review and approval
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with External Ventricular Drains (EVDs) preferred
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring in a stepdown environment
• Flexibility to float to other units within the facility as needed

• Work within a specialized neuroscience inpatient stepdown environment supported by a Charge Nurse 24/7 and dedicated nurse aides on every shift
• Gain experience in a high-acuity neuro setting with access to a multidisciplinary team including around-the-clock Respiratory Therapy support
