* This is an on-site position in Morgantown, WV at West Virginia University

The Food & Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the implementation, adherence, and continuous improvement of both food safety and physical safety protocols for West Virginia University. This role requires a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements, food safety compliance, and safety best practices to safeguard the well‑being of our customers and team members.

Food Safety:

• Ensure proper compliance with corporate food safety programs as required by local, state, and federal regulations.
• Prepare units for the health department and third-party audits and support any corrective action or continuous improvement tasks as needed.
• Monitor food safety log and SOP compliance.
• Ensure the development and delivery of food safety training programs for employees, ensuring proper handling, storage, and processing of food products.
• Monitor completion of internal My Field Audits  and follow up on corrective actions.
• Investigate food safety incidents, conduct a root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Physical Safety:

• Ensure proper compliance with corporate physical safety programs to reduce workplace hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations.
• Training Delivery – Ensure training on health and safety management topics to WVU leadership & new managers on implementing safety programs.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and human resources, to ensure seamless integration of safety programs.
• Monitor reports on food and physical safety performance metrics, trends, and improvement initiatives to senior management and segment safety.
• Attend client and operational meetings as and when required to support the effective implementation of work-based food and physical safety solutions.
• Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices related to food and physical safety.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of safety programs and reduce risk.
• Promote a culture of safety and accountability throughout the organization.

• Bachelor’s degree in food science, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in food safety with a knowledge of workplace safety standards, preferably in hospitality or food production environment
  * Combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, FDA Food Code, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.
• Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, Serv Safe)

Requirements:

• Ability to work in a food production environment, including exposure to cold, heat, and other elements.
• 25% Travel (Potomac State andWVU Tech)

Up to $60,000 / year based on experience.
