Summary of

Job Duties:

The UACCM Adult Education English/ESL Teacher works under the supervision of the Director of Adult Education and will be responsible for providing instruction to individuals with a variety of personal goals, including: learning the English language, improving basic skills, gaining digital literacy skills, and/or earning an Arkansas High School Diploma through the GED examination process. This full-time position will be assigned to the UACCM Adult Education facility in Morrilton.

Evening and weekend hours may be required.

JOB DUTIES AND

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Provide instruction to adults whose native language is not English.

Teach basic skills/concepts in reading, language, and mathematics.

Build instructional activities around the four interdependent components of reading: alphabetics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Assist with the administration of the TABE CLAS-E assessment.

Provide a variety of instructional deliveries including individualized instruction, small group instruction, and whole class instruction.

Facilitate learning with textbooks, workbooks, lectures, computer based educational programs, audio/visual aids, hands-on activities, and peer tutors.

Assist students with the development of digital literacy skills.

Provide learning activities designed to enhance financial literacy skills.

Collaborate with students to document long and short-term goals based upon identified career pathways.

Provide English instruction to adults seeking to earn an Arkansas High School Diploma.

Provide students with progress reports and update individual learning plans on a consistent basis.

Maintain accurate student attendance records.

Participate in professional development activities as required.

Participate in staff meetings, state training, and in-service events.

Maintain clean and professional classroom environment.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree

* Possesses a valid Arkansas Department of Education Educator's License A full-time teacher that does not have a license in Adult Education must obtain an Adult Education license credential within three (3) years of the date of his/her initial employment as a full-time teacher.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Previous work experience providing Adult Education instruction
