Science tutors work on campus at the Learning Center under the supervision of the Coordinator of Tutoring Services. Tutors assist students in becoming more successful and independent learners by integrating effective learning and study strategies, clarifying and reinforcing course content, and supporting assignments. Tutoring will be provided in Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II and Biology. The part‑time position works during fall and/or spring semesters when classes are in session with occasional evening or weekend work.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized and small group tutoring.
- Maintain records of tutoring service usage.
- Develop tutoring materials and strategies.
- Proactively promote tutoring services.
- Create a welcoming learning environment.
- Understand college resources and refer students appropriately.
- Complete required trainings and development assignments.
- Act with integrity, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Comply with federal laws and college policies regarding student privacy.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned.
- Completion of at least 12 college credit hours.
- Recorded B or higher in natural science courses (overall 3.0 GPA).
- Associate’s degree or higher in a natural science field.
- Prior tutoring experience.
- Proficient knowledge of Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, and other sciences.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
- Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Problem‑solving, organization, prioritization, multitasking, flexibility.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Ability to work effectively with students of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Physical ability to move about freely.
Pay range: $12 to $18 per hour depending on qualifications.
