Express Scripts Pharmacy Benefit Services invites you to join our team as a Clinical Account Executive (CAE) in a hybrid role with 3 days in-office and 2 days remote.

Based at any US Cigna Healthcare office, the CAE will leverage pharmacy and healthcare expertise to meet Health Plan client strategic goals and drive improved clinical and financial outcomes.

Job Description

The CAE will use deep pharmacy/healthcare knowledge, strong clinical, analytical, financial, and business skills to develop and present a comprehensive strategy aligning with client goals.

The strategic plan should address critical business metrics such as member and client satisfaction, clinical support and program adoption, with a goal to deliver lower healthcare costs and optimal clinical outcomes.

pThe CAE independently manages a portfolio of moderately complex clients, drawing insights from diverse data and promoting an optimal patient experience.

They serve as the client’s gold‑standard clinical resource, knowledgeable of new clinical innovations, digital health, and new delivery models.

They partner with the Health Plan’s Pharmacy Director, Medical Director and clinical staff to provide comprehensive management plans.

The CAE is the client’s healthcare consultant and expert, responsible for managing clinical strategies, initiatives, and new solution adoption to meet client and ESI goals.

Essential Functions
  • Leads (and partners with Account Executive) the adoption of clinical solutions through consultative sales methods (e.g., client P&T presentations, quarterly/annual business reviews, reporting) in accordance with client business goals.
  • Leads custom formulary management recommendation discussions, aligning internally with enterprise formulary best practices and goals; partners with finance and formulary teams to manage rebate performance.
  • Leads the development, preparation, and presentation of healthcare strategy for each client; works with Account Executive and Manager to service consultative needs.
  • Leads clinical client Strategic Planning and Review Consultation (SPARC) meetings; responsible for retention, loyalty, and maximizing solution sales within assigned portfolio.
  • Shares best‑practice standards with broader CAE peers and clients, demonstrating understanding of current drug trends and their impact on health plan benefits.
  • Engages in client dialogue addressing client and membership needs, builds trust and credibility, becoming a trusted advisor for benefit success.
  • Functions as primary clinical resource and new solution product expert for the client.
Qualifications
  • Current U.S. Pharmacist License.
  • Minimum of 3 years licensure experience preferred.
  • More than 2 years of client‑facing experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Quick study, high energy, self‑starter, approachable, and collaborative.
  • Influential presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Flexibility and drive organizational effectiveness.
  • Excellent client relationship skills to facilitate upsell and retention.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Focus on client satisfaction and retention results.
  • Demonstrated project management ability using proven processes.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally and resolve issues urgently.
  • Multi‑tasking, prioritization, and strong project management skills.
  • Ability to learn internal reporting and analytic tools.
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 15% of time.

The role requires a reliable internet connection using cable broadband or fiber with minimum 10 Mbps download/5 Mbps upload.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible for an incentive compensation plan.
