Job Description:
Morris Elementary School District 54 is seeking a dependable, adaptable, and enthusiastic Permanent Substitute Teacher to provide consistent instructional coverage for all students in grades PreK-8.
In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining educational continuity and ensuring a seamless learning experience when a regular classroom teacher is absent. You will step in to lead the classroom, follow established lesson plans with fidelity, and ensure that high-quality instruction and student learning continue without interruption. This position is ideal for experienced educators looking for steady, engaging work within a supportive educational environment.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
* Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) OR a valid Substitute Teaching License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
* Successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting process.
* Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom and implement instruction effectively across diverse age groups (PreK-8).
* Exceptional flexibility and a positive, professional attitude.
Duties:
The Permanent Substitute Teacher will be responsible for:
* Maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment while the regular teacher is absent.
* Implementing lesson plans, instructional materials, and activities left by the absent teacher efficiently and effectively across multiple grade levels (PreK-8) within the assigned school.
* Managing classroom behavior according to school and district policy.
* Supervising students in a variety of settings (e.g., classroom, hallways, lunchroom, playground).
* Adapting to different grade levels and subject areas as needed, spanning Preschool through 8th Grade.
* Following all school rules, procedures, and policies.
* Communicating with school administration regarding any significant issues or concerns.
Benefits and Compensation:
* Days are worked in accordance with the student attendance calendar (approximately 174-180 days per year)
* Hours TBD in accordance with school day hours
* Benefits Eligibility:
This position is NOT eligible for employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, life insurance.
* 11 Sick Days
* 3 Personal Days
* TRS or IMRF eligible
* Salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and the district's pay scale for this position
