Overview
Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP - CCC) - School - Contract - 26-27
Location: Morris, IL
Weekly Pay Range: 1959.71 - 2305.54
Responsibilities- Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders among the residential and day-only student population.
- Perform evaluations for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and develop implementation plans as needed.
- Participate in developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students.
- Provide training to parents, family/caregivers of students, and other professionals as requested.
- Participate in student team meetings and supervise Speech-Language Pathology Assistants in their role.
- Collaborate with professionals from other disciplines to support student programming.
- Create individualized materials and programming for all assigned students.
- Conduct dynamic assessment of students’ AAC systems and IEP programming.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance as required.
- Provide observation opportunities and supervision for university students or other future professionals in the field.
- Work alternate schedules to support and ensure consistency with classroom and group home programming.
- Complete maintenance requests for therapy equipment as needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Must have graduated from an accredited school and hold current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist (or be actively pursuing licensure).
- Ability to assist with self-care on occasion.
- Assess patient needs, plan, evaluate, and modify care to meet goals of speech therapy.
Educational, Training and Licensure Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Speech or related field.
- Must maintain current state license and current licensure with a national organization.
- Must successfully complete all required orientation and training.
- Must maintain NCI certification.
- Ability to perform significant walking, standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, reaching, and kneeling.
- Regular lifting of up to 10 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
- Sitting at a desk for long periods; continuous reading and close-up work.
- Hand and finger dexterity for writing, typing, grasping, reaching, and pulling.
- Hearing and speaking clearly in person and on the phone.
- Occasional exposure to infectious disease, parasites, bodily fluids, and blood-borne pathogens.
- Personal protective equipment as needed (masks, gloves, etc.).
- Occasional exposure to all weather conditions.
- Exposure to bodily fluids and blood-borne pathogens—Occasionally.
- Exposure to physical contact from clients (e.g., slapping, hitting, kicking) occasionally.
