Master Mechanic Pipefitter

Job Overview

Pipe fitters needed for 4 days at our client Lyondell, located in Morris IL.

Schedule:

4 12‑hour days starting on May 4.

Rate: $48/hour. No per diem.

TWIC card required.

The right candidate will have four or more years of experience working in chemical plants and/or refineries in the piping field. NCCER certification as a pipefitter or passed Starcon Craft Assessment. As a pipefitter you will cut pipe using power tools, pipe cutter, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine; thread pipe using threading machine; assemble and install a variety of metal and non‑metal pipe and fittings, including those made of carbon, brass, copper and stainless steel;

fabricate and install various styles of field pipe supports; perform hydro and air tests of piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges.

• Torch cutting, operation of pipe cutting/beveling machines, basic rigging knowledge
• Knowledge of control valves, check valves and relief valves related to removal, handling and proper installation
• Ability to install and remove blinds for isolating fixed equipment
• Sound rigging skills
• Knowledge of materials that require proper pre‑heating prior to cutting or welding
• Ability to read and understand piping isometric drawings and P&IDs
• Ability to read and understand weld procedures
• Ability to perform steam tracing on associated piping systems
• Cut and thread pipe using various tools and machines
• Ability to layout and fit pipe from field dimensions or from field sketches, isometric and P&
• Strong math skills

• Always be in compliance with all Starcon and client safety and quality control procedures.
• Work in a team effort with all team members to reach a common goal.
• Be willing to assist other crafts when directed such as boilermakers, welders, riggers, etc.
