Location: Morristown, NJ (300 Madison Ave, Morristown, NJ 07960)

Pay Rate: $46.00 $ 51.00 / Hour (USD)

Job Summary

Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, environmental consultants, GIS mapping specialists, and real estate coordinators to prepare permit applications for railroad permitting to facilitate construction impacts related to transmission line and substation expansion projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, environmental consultants, GIS mapping specialists, and real estate coordinators to prepare permit applications for railroad permitting to facilitate construction impacts related to transmission line and substation expansion projects
  • Complete and submit permit applications, and pursue application through timeframe until permit is issued or authorized
  • Obtain permitting authorizations for all crossings related to linear transmission line projects, including but not limited to: railroad crossings and turnpike crossings
  • Obtain entry and access permits
  • Support environmental permitting tasks if requested
  • Support fiber and communication permitting tasks if requested
  • Interact with construction contractors for electrical transmission lines, fiber, road building, foundations, geotechnical, survey, and restoration with respect to permitting needs and understand railroad permitting compliance
  • Support Client needs as directed
  • Assist with document research
  • Provide assistance to client on electrical distribution projects
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science or a related natural science degree from an accredited program is required, OR
  • Master Degree in Environmental Science or a related natural science degree from an accredited program is required
  • Valid Driver's License required
Required Experience
  • Minimum 4 years performing environmental and permitting studies, preparing permitting applications and analyzing environmental data for various environmental impact projects (if holding Bachelor Degree), OR
  • Minimum 3 years performing environmental and permitting studies, preparing permitting applications and analyzing environmental data for various environmental impact projects (if holding Master Degree)

Work Environment /

Physical Requirements
  • Driving required; MVR check required
  • Must pass required drug screen and background check (including DMV/MVR check)
  • Must clear the First Energy background prior to starting; background check takes roughly 4-6 weeks to complete
  • Will sit in the FE office: 300 Madison Ave, Morristown, NJ 07960; this is an onsite position with no remote or hybrid option

Important Notes
  • RTR is required for each submittal
  • Selected candidate must be aware that First Energy background check takes roughly 4-6 weeks to complete; for example, if a candidate is offered a role May 15th, the candidate might not start until June 15th to June 29th
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located
