This is an open position within the Jersey Central Power & Light Company, a subsidiary of First Energy Corp.
The position directly supervises, coaches, and assists Regional Distribution System Operations personnel involved in the daily real-time operation. The successful candidate can anticipate a salary within the following range pending education, experience, and equity.
Responsibilities Include- Maintaining a high level of safety commitment throughout day-to-day functions.
- Supervising activities including the direction of field crews in the operation and maintenance of the electrical distribution system.
- Ensuring compliance with appropriate policies and procedures for real-time dispatch operations.
- Supervising real-time utilization of Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distribution Management System (DMS), contingency analysis, and system analysis resources for assessing system conditions.
- Conducting quarterly performance reviews with employees.
- Executing the performance management process by providing feedback and coaching on an ongoing basis throughout the year and discussing development opportunities, performance issues, and changes that are occurring.
- Initiating, conducting, and providing expert and timely assistance to investigate reliability, safety conditions, and incidents; this involves interacting with other areas in Energy Delivery, First Energy regional operations, transmission operations, and neighboring utility regions.
- Developing contingency plans for prioritizing the restoration of service.
- Assisting in or developing emergency plans for storm-related interruptions, equipment failures, or labor unrest.
- Supervising the maintenance of operating documentation, record keeping, and operator shift schedule.
- Participating in operational and other meetings across the Ohio footprint.
- May be required to work weekends, extended days, and/or travel to other operational companies within First Energy for storm response.
- Must be available for storm work during severe weather conditions.
- Associate of Engineering degree (Electrical Engineering preferred), with at least 3 years of related work experience, or a high school diploma with 5 years of relevant work experience. Related work experience includes line or substation field work, engineering experience, and military related or leadership experience.
- Demonstrated past leadership in operational supervision or DSO job duties.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to process information in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ability to accurately perform analytical calculations such as voltage drops, transformer, and circuit loadings.
- Knowledge of the equipment and principals involved in the operation of all components of the electrical system required.
- Knowledge of First Energy's information systems related to operating activities.
- Knowledge of clearance and switching (lockout/tagout) procedures to remove and restore lines and electrical equipment while maintaining safety to employees (Manual of Operations).
- Experience in the safe operation of electrical equipment and maintaining reliable and quality service to customers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to conduct and present himself/herself in a professional manner.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Must reside within a reasonable proximity of the reporting location due to job related requirements.
