Data Center Commissioning Project Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) – Full‑Time – (Remote/Travel)
We are seeking a mid‑level engineer with a passion for technical excellence, budget, and schedule management of data center projects. The role involves construction observations, review of contract documents, development of functional test plans, and execution of tests for mechanical and controls systems. Additional responsibilities include retro‑commissioning engineering/energy studies and contributing to design and energy projects for national industrial, institutional, and commercial clients.
Responsibilities- Assist in managing small to large data center projects to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget, and schedule.
- Perform construction observations and review contract documents.
- Develop functional test plans and execute tests for mechanical and controls systems.
- Execute retro‑commissioning engineering/energy studies.
- Contribute to design and energy projects for national industrial, institutional, and commercial clients.
- Assess, optimize, and/or commission utility plants.
- 2+ years of specific data center commissioning experience (electrical/mechanical).
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% for project work, training, and inter‑office business.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (preferred).
- Experience diagnosing and solving construction and operational problems.
- Experience managing design/energy services commissioning project resources to pre‑determined scope, fee, and schedule.
- Knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards such as ASHRAE, LEED.
- Effective leadership and written/verbal communication skills are essential.
- EIT, PE, CBCP, CEM, CCP, CxA credentials are a plus.
