Director, Customer Data Management Lead

Location:

Morristown, NJ / Cambridge, MA

Position Summary

As Director of Customer Data Management, this role owns the strategy and execution of the enterprise Master Data Management (MDM) function for U.S. customer data—including Health Care Professionals, Organizations, Affiliations, and Plan/Payer/PBM hierarchies. The position ensures customer data is trusted, governed, and accessible, enabling data‑driven decisions across Commercial, Medical, Market Access, and Compliance. This role demands ownership of end‑to‑end business and data processes, driving integrity, governance, and quality h customer data being foundational across all therapeutic areas, the Director partners with and shapes data strategy to drive alignment, consistency, and impact across the enterprise.

Responsibilities
  • Define and own the data strategy for customer data (HCP, HCO, Affiliations, Plan/Payer/PBM hierarchies).
  • Serve as accountable owner for customer data and align it with respective Business Unit/Therapeutic Areas across Market Access, Commercial, Compliance, and Legal functions.
  • Ensure customer data products are discoverable, trustworthy, and usable by analytics, operations, and business stakeholders.
  • Define and enforce business rules, definitions, and quality standards on customer data at a generic level and at a therapeutic area level.
  • Collaborate across GTMC functions to ensure accurate utilization of customer data across the enterprise.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations in partnership with Audit, Legal, and Compliance teams.
  • Monitor and improve data quality, completeness, and timeliness across customer‑related data assets.
  • Lead stewardship efforts including issue resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvements.
  • Establish and report relevant data quality metrics by therapeutic area.
  • Ensure all customer‑related data products are documented with metadata, lineage, and usage guidelines.
  • Partner with Digital and Business stakeholders to prioritize enhancements and ensure data availability, usability, and governance.
Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead/manage teams focused on Customer MDM initiatives and co‑lead cross‑functional initiatives where customer data is foundational.
  • Foster a collaborative, agile, and data‑driven culture across the organization.
Qualifications
  • BS in Life Sciences, Data Science, Business, or related field – required.
  • MS preferred.
  • 7+ years in data management roles in life sciences commercial operations – required.
  • Deep expertise in Customer MDM and in‑depth knowledge of HCP, HCO, Plan/Payer/PBM, and Affiliations data.
  • Strong understanding of customer data utilization in Commercial operations processes across CRM, Alignments, Targeting, Incentive Compensation, Analytics, Reporting, etc.
  • Strong background with life sciences commercial data assets (Rx, Sales, Product, APLD, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills to represent customer data across the commercial organization.
  • Strong leadership and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and resources.
  • Experience working in a data mesh or domain‑oriented data architecture.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and collaborate with Digital and Analytics teams.
  • Experience in Product MDM is a plus.
