Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Systems & Infrastructure Administrator to join our IT team and
take ownership of the organization's server infrastructure, Microsoft 365 environment,
networking, security, backups, endpoint management, and day-to-day systems administration.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience managing Windows environments,
Microsoft 365, virtualization, networking, firewalls, VPNs, backup systems, and security
platforms. Experience supporting healthcare, laboratory, LIS, EMR, or other mission-critical
environments is highly desirable.
This position will work closely with the IT, LIS, and Integration teams to maintain a reliable,
secure, and highly available technology environment supporting laboratory operations.
- Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS,
DHCP, Group Policy, file services, and application servers. - Manage physical and virtual servers and troubleshoot hardware, operating system,
storage, and performance issues. - Monitor system availability, capacity, performance, and resource utilization.
- Perform system upgrades, patches, maintenance, and configuration changes.
- Maintain server documentation, system inventories, configurations, and technical
procedures. - Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues and coordinate with vendors
when necessary. - Support scheduled maintenance, upgrades, and production changes with minimal
operational disruption.
- Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Entra ,
Microsoft Intune, and user/device management. - Manage user accounts, permissions, security groups, licenses, and access policies.
- Assist with Microsoft 365 security and configuration.
- Support endpoint enrollment, configuration, and management through Intune.
- Monitor Microsoft 365 service health and resolve user and system issues.
- Manage and troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing,
and related network services. - Administer and troubleshoot firewalls, VPNs, remote-access solutions, and secure
network connectivity. - Work with vendors and third-party partners to establish and maintain VPN, SFTP, and
other connectivity. - Troubleshoot connectivity issues between internal systems, cloud applications,
laboratories, EMRs, and external partners. - Maintain network diagrams and infrastructure documentation.
- Manage and monitor backup systems and backup jobs.
- Verify successful backups and investigate failures.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and recovery procedures.
- Assist with business continuity planning for critical systems.
- Maintain appropriate backup retention and recovery documentation.
- Participate in periodic restore testing to verify backup integrity.
- Support endpoint security, antivirus/EDR, patch management, vulnerability remediation,
and system hardening. - Assist with security monitoring and investigation of system alerts.
- Implement and maintain appropriate access controls and least-privilege practices.
- Support security assessments, risk remediation, and audit requirements.
- Ensure systems are maintained in accordance with organizational security policies and
applicable regulatory requirements.
- Provide infrastructure support for laboratory information systems, EMR-related
applications, interfaces, and other healthcare technology. - Support laboratory applications and third-party healthcare systems from an
infrastructure perspective. - Coordinate with software vendors and healthcare technology partners on system
upgrades, connectivity, and technical issues. - Understand the importance of system availability and data integrity in a clinical
laboratory environment.
- Monitor critical servers, applications, network devices, and infrastructure services.
- Respond to system alerts and infrastructure incidents.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in incident management and problem resolution.
- Provide escalation-level support for complex technical issues.
- Maintain clear documentation of incidents, changes, configurations, and resolutions.
- Work with third-party vendors, managed service providers, and technology partners.
- Coordinate infrastructure-related implementations, upgrades, migrations, and new
system deployments. - Participate in technology evaluations and recommend infrastructure improvements.
- Assist with onboarding and implementation of new applications and systems.
- Support infrastructure projects from planning through implementation and validation.
