Job Summary
Full‑time Licensed Practical Nurse – Allergy at our Morristown, NJ office. The role requires previous allergy experience and covers administration of allergy shots, testing, patient education, and coordination with providers.
Schedule:
30+ hours per week. Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays (7:00a.m. – 7:00p.m.). Open flexibility to help cover as needed.
- Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere to enhance the quality of service and care offered to patients and providers.
- Provide general care and education to patients in accordance with OSHA regulations.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including allergy shots, under the direct or indirect supervision of a provider.
- Prepare necessary supplies for allergy testing and treatments.
- Perform lung function testing (FeNO and Spirometry) with and without bronchodilators.
- Assist in the interpretation of patch testing results and perform placement and removal as directed by an RN or provider.
- Maintain the immunotherapy room with necessary supplies and materials, ensuring cleanliness.
- Administer allergy shots and ensure a provider is on site.
- Observe, record, and report patients’ vitals and reactions to treatments.
- Assess patients’ needs and suggest solutions to patient care problems.
- Supervise triaging of patient communications (through email and/or portal).
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting all visits in EMR.
- Assure patients stay for the required observation time after injections.
- Learn and perform immunotherapy vial mixing procedures and proper documentation in accordance with current regulations.
- React appropriately in patient reaction situations, informing the physician and/or other clinical staff as necessary to mitigate adverse reactions.
- Assist providers in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, prescriptions, prior authorizations (including biologics), and procedures within established guidelines.
- Understand provider‑to‑patient flow and anticipate provider’s next steps to the best of your ability.
- Demonstrate clinical competence and sound knowledge base in providing quality patient care.
- Ensure allergy test sets and emergency kits are filled, current, and up to date.
- Confirm that insurance benefits have been verified prior to the preparation of allergy serums.
- Regularly interact with physicians, other providers, and staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related materials; and by attending seminars and conferences as needed.
- Report improperly operating medical equipment and instruments to the supervisor.
- Perform inventory responsibilities, including but not limited to ordering and stocking of supplies and equipment as requested.
- Previous allergy experience required.
- Graduate from an LPN education program approved by the state Education Department.
- Pass the NCLEX‑PN examination.
- Active LPN license in the state required.
- CPR and AED certifications required.
- Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems.
- Computer‑savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Excellent patient relations and customer service skills.
- Open availability to work during weekdays.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance.
