Job Overview

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner to join the inpatient Palliative Care Team at Morristown Medical Center. The NP will perform comprehensive health histories, physical assessments, and incorporate holistic aspects of patient care for those with serious illnesses. Responsibilities include accurate and timely documentation and planning for the continuum of care, and providing services primarily in the inpatient setting while coordinating with primary care providers and specialists.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and review comprehensive medical histories and physical assessments.
  • Develop and implement individualized palliative care plans.
  • Document patient encounters and care plans accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Manage symptom control and provide advanced palliative care interventions.
  • Communicate prognosis, goals of care, and treatment options to patients and families.
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and staff.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner in New Jersey or eligible for licensure.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Palliative Care certification a plus.
  • Minimum one year of clinical acute care experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, symptom management, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced inpatient environment.
