Job Description
Responsible for working with other healthcare professionals to support various procedures. Monitors patients, administers medications, EMR, consults with healthcare providers, and educates patients.
Responsibilities- Clinical Skills and Assessment: Demonstrates knowledge of conditions, diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered in the Endoscopy unit, including cardiovascular and pulmonary. Consistently maintains SGNA standards of practice. Shows competent knowledge of all normal stages of growth and development and delivers care appropriately. Assesses patient understanding of the procedure and actively includes the patient and family members in teaching. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and skill in the recognition and management of emergency situations.
- Documentation: Maintains complete and accurate documentation. Assumes primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patients' progress toward meeting outcomes in the chart, including patient education. Maintains accurate records of any changes in status and interventions. Provides complete charting of procedures and charge documentation to assist accurate billing. Completes post‑case data sheets legibly.
- Educational Requirements and Mentoring: Fulfills mandatory education obligations. Maintains BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures and identifies areas for clinical and professional growth. Attends educational offerings and staff meetings to stay current. Actively pursues professional growth and development by obtaining information on new equipment and technology. Assists in orienting and educating new staff on equipment and policies.
Acts as a role model. - Patient Satisfaction: Consistently responds to patients/families in a professional and courteous manner. Promotes an environment focused on patients and families. Maintains open communication to address delays or concerns. Notifies the charge nurse of unresolved problems. Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines. Supports AHS Shared values with a pleasant environment.
- Safety: Follows National Patient Safety Goals and Universal Protocols. Applies safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics. Adheres to infection‑control guidelines, isolation standards, and hand hygiene. Administers medications per hospital policy. Helps maintain equipment, identifies malfunctions, and reports them.
- Collaboration: Acts as a patient advocate and ensures patient rights are respected. Identifies patient/family needs upon admission and communicates them to physician, social worker, and/or case manager. Reports all risk‑management issues promptly.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- BLS certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Proficient use of EMR systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- 2‑3 years of inpatient hospital nursing experience
- ACLS and PALS certifications
- Experience in endoscopy or related procedures
- Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription Coverage (24 hours per week or above for full‑time and part‑time staff)
