RN L&D

Location:

Morristown, NJ Duration: 13 Weeks Schedule Notes: 7PM to 7AM (Every Other Weekend) Pay Range: $66.50/HR TO $73/HR ON W2 Duties:

  • Has competent knowledge of all the normal stages of growth and development from Pediatric to Geriatric and delivers patient care appropriately.
  • Performs thorough assessments that are systematic, comprehensive and accurate.
  • Consistently demonstrates competent clinical skills. Performs direct patient care activities in support of patient care delivery and team concept.
  • Provides competent and appropriate nursing care to the population of the unit.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill of emergency equipment and procedures.
  • Maintains complete and accurate documentation. Demonstrates knowledge of documentation guidelines.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patient's progress toward meeting outcomes in the patient's chart including patient education.
  • Demonstrates professional practice responsibility.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures and is able to identify areas for clinical and professional growth.
  • Consistently responds to patient's/families and co-workers in a professional, courteous, positive manner to promotes an environment where the patient and family is at the center and the patient care team works cooperatively toward their goal and objectives.
  • Maintains confidentiality according to HIPPA guidelines.
  • Consistently follows the National Patient Safety Goals including following Universal Protocol and identifying patient's utilizing 2 patient identifiers.
  • Demonstrates use of safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self, and patient's.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the conditions/diagnoses, procedures and equipment encountered for surgical patient's.
  • Individualizes patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care.
  • Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions.
  • Contributes to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care by prioritizing the care of patient's depending on their needs and any changes in their condition.
  • Patient Education and Chart Completion.
  • Assesses patient's understanding of surgical procedure/instructions, actively including the patient and family members in teaching.
  • Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education.
  • Specific to PAT RN.
  • Supports the completion of patient testing in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and for potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health.

Requirements:

  • ACLS
    - Required
  • BLS
    - Required
  • NJ state or Compact State RN License
    - Required
  • ASN Required & BSN preferred.
  • 2 Years of experience working on High Risk pregnancy in L&D.
