JOB DESCRIPTION

Atlantic Health, one of New Jersey's largest non‑profit healthcare networks, is seeking an Advanced Practice Professional (NP/PA) to support a busy and expanding Outpatient Hematology and Medical Oncology practice located in Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Medical Center. Our team of hematologists and medical oncologists, as well as additional nurse practitioners and physician assistants, coordinate unified comprehensive care, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy, along with supportive care services.

This position is full-time with no weekends or call requirement. The primary role of the APP is to work collaboratively with a robust dynamic group of board‑certified cancer specialists. The APP is expected to provide hematology & medical oncology specialty patient care in an outpatient care setting. The APP will also educate patients and families, and work with insurance carriers for peer‑to‑peer reviews.

The ideal candidate will bring a positive and caring attitude and excellent communication skills.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Participate in daily inpatient rounds with the physician to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
  • Collaborate with consulting providers and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated, high‑quality patient care.
  • Assist in the management of medications, including prophylactic antimicrobial therapy, for patients with malignant hematologic disorders.
  • Develop, review, and modify chemotherapy treatment plans in collaboration with the physician, while coordinating closely with pharmacy and nursing teams to ensure safe and timely treatment delivery.
  • Coordinate prior authorizations, scheduling, and seamless transitions of care from the inpatient setting to outpatient oncology services.
  • Provide comprehensive chemotherapy education and disease‑specific counseling to patients and families, including review of treatment plans, laboratory and diagnostic results, expected side effects, and continuity of care following discharge.
  • Coordinate and facilitate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, central venous port placement, and other specialty procedures.
  • Assist physicians with bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, and other procedural responsibilities within the advanced practice provider scope.
  • Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds to support collaborative care planning and discharge coordination.
  • Coordinate and facilitate procurement of genetic testing kits and ensure appropriate specimen collection and processing.
  • Support the multidisciplinary management and coordination of patients undergoing CAR‑T cell therapy throughout the inpatient hospitalization, ensuring continuity of care across the treatment continuum.
  • Collaborate with the physician to review laboratory results, assess patient readiness, and clear patients for treatment.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant program
  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in New Jersey
  • BLS required
  • 2+ years of hematology/medical oncology experience is preferred
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Strong work ethic and a team player who can work independently
