Position Overview:

This is a 12-month, live-in professional staff position with responsibilities in Residence Life and Student Engagement. The coordinator will support the developmental needs of the SEU student community, mentor student employees, supervise Resident Assistants, and serve as the primary advisor of the Campus Activity Board. The role reports to the Director of Student Engagement and supports division-wide functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(Residence Life Duties):

  • Supervise, evaluate, and train all full-time Resident Assistants.
  • Participate in housing operations, including hall opening and closing; educational programming; assessment; and documentation of room conditions.
  • Encourage student accountability and adherence to the Student Code of Conduct and Residence Life policies.
  • Hold scheduled office hours and meet with students, faculty, and staff as needed.
  • Serve in an after-hours on-call rotation with other Residence Life staff.
  • Handle emergencies and issues to ensure resident safety and well-being.
  • Develop and maintain a residence hall council/association social programming model.
  • Establish positive relationships with university staff, departments, and stakeholders.
  • Promote and enforce university policies for all students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

(Student Engagement Duties):

  • Attend and support all senate meetings.
  • Utilize social media and other channels to increase student awareness and engagement.
  • Send daily and weekly emails about upcoming events to the campus community.
  • Hold scheduled office hours and meet with students, faculty, and staff as needed.
  • Provide weekend and evening coverage of Student Engagement and Residence Life programs.
  • Maintain and publicize the student events calendar.
  • Assist the Director of Student Engagement in managing the student organization registration process.
  • Help grow intramurals into a robust program with at least 3 different sports per semester.
  • Communicate with current and prospective students about events and opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $40,000 - $45,000

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required. Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, or student personnel strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of direct experience in Student Affairs/Student Activities in a college setting.
  • Availability to work evenings and full weekends.
  • Ability to positively engage students, with patience, empathy, friendliness, enthusiasm, and kindness.
  • Excellent leadership, management, organizational, interpersonal, public speaking, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage projects independently to successful completion.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to prioritize work under pressure.
  • Ability to supervise and lead a staff of student workers.
